US 21 Alleghany County  10 Mile $17.8M highway widening project in Alleghany County.  Included 315,000 CY earth and rock excavation, 3 box culverts, 2 bridges, 2 MSE retaining walls, 2 gravity retaining walls and 1 soil nail retaining wall.

The Wilkes County courthouse is a new 70,096 sf, two-story facility. The courthouse included a full site work package, concrete slab on grade, concrete slab on deck, architectural pre-cast, multi-story pre-cast entry columns, block and brick masonry, structural and misc. steel, architectural woodwork and cabinetry, waterproofing, insulation, light gauge metal framing, drywall, ceramic tile, acoustical ceilings, resilient flooring, carpet, painting, toilets and accessories, security equipment, automatic doors, louvers, blinds, elevators, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, electrical and emergency power system. The courthouse consisted of six courtrooms, Judges Chambers, Offices for District Attorney, Community Work, Register of Deeds, Clerk of Court, Adult Probation, Magistrate, and Juvenile, along with Kitchen and Dining Facilities. The Wilkes County Courthouse was built on a complicated site that required expert communication and innovative procedures to mitigate any future impacts to the building prior to project completion.

Vannoy has constructed two Cabela’s retail stores, one in Bristol, VA and the other in Charleston, WV. Both stores feature a masonry structure with an exposed timber clear story through the middle of the entire store. High-end finishes include high-grade wood trim, millwork, and kitchens for staff.

Wilkes County Justice Center

New 58,000 sf, two-story building with 44,000 sf of floor area, a a 13,000 sf mezzanine and control area. The jail has four male cell blocks and two female cell blocks, which are masonry with hollow-core slab ceilings. Each cell block consists of dorm type dayroom, as well as isolation cells.  The booking area is tied to the housing unit and consists of padded cells, magistrate, holding areas, intake, and storage. The roof of the detention building is hollowcore slab topped with membrane.
