Haywood MOB

Haywood Medical Office Building

The new, 34,000 sf state-of-the-art Haywood Medical Office Building will be readily accessible and build upon strong traditional clinical care with an added focus on health and wellness. The site will include dedicated physicians and clinical staff, as well as, significant telemedicine capabilities that will help avoid the need to travel to Asheville for even some of the most complex care. In addition to primary care, the facility also offers rotating specialty services including wound care, orthopedics, and physical therapy. The Mission Health Complex, listed under the MyCare Plus brand, went from groundbreaking to grand opening in less than nine months and has plenty of room to grow on its 23-acre site. The goal for Mission is to move away from a very hospital-centric model to a very at-your-side model of care for the community.

MyCare

MyCare Plus at Biltmore Park

Jobsite required extensive earthwork and grading in order to achieve a workable building pad. Due to the existing conditions, a 1,000’ retaining wall was required to be built along the backside of the property in order to start the MOB foundations. In addition to the retaining wall, we encountered 52 lost days of work due to bad weather and still met our original finish date for the core and shell of May 1, 2014. We were able to overlap the core and shell and upfit construction in order to turn the upfit work over to Mission Health one month after the core and shell were completed. In order to do this, it required a lot of planning and work upfront to provide temporary environmental control inside the building without having the exterior completed. The 34,000 sf facility consisted of Xray and Laboratory Services on the first floor along with physicians’ offices and exam rooms. The third floor was built out including physician’s offices and exam rooms along with other medical support service areas. The 2nd floor was left as a cold dark shell, which is currently being built out for another Mission Physician.

Vannoy also performed the site development for the 26-acre medical campus, including a new NCDOT roadway extension, stream crossings, retention pond, and nature trails. This project was the first of its kind for Novant Health. There were multiple design revisions throughout the project. Vannoy completed the project two months early due to close coordination with the Owner and Architects.

Angel Medical Center

Angel Medical – Ambulatory & Cancer Center

This new, three-story, 28,500 sf Ambulatory Healthcare Center located in Franklin, NC was completed in 2013. The first floor consisted of Physical Rehabilitation and Speech Therapy Clinic, second floor was a Cancer Center and the third floor was an Endoscopy and Gastro Practice. Vannoy Construction was actually chosen to take over the project from the previous contractor after the steel frame had been 75% erected. We were put to the test to collaboratively assist the design team in redesigning to current Healthcare Regulations, as well as help reduce the cost impact of this re-design through extensive value analysis of building materials and MEP systems. We were also successful in demonstrating the Sustainability advantages of using a Variable Refrigerant Flow HVAC system in lieu of Heat Pumps.
