Once built, the innovative new MUSC Health Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion will occupy 100,000 sf and include 56 inpatient beds, a Crisis Stabilization Unit with nine (9) adult beds, four (4) adolescent beds, and Outpatient Treatment facilities. Vannoy Construction was brought on board early with an Integrated Project Delivery (IDP) approach to assist in preconstruction and design efforts. Through the course of five (5) Guaranteed Maximum Prices (GMP), the project construction was able to commence before design completion and maintain MUSC’s desired schedule. Before construction could begin, eight (8) buildings totaling over 350,00 sf of space were demolished. The project is 100% on schedule for a 6/17/25 DPH inspection and a 6/27/25 substantial completion.
Management of long-lead items selection and procurement to include RTUs, electrical switchgear, generators, and automatic transfer switches. Manufacturers were selected utilizing design assist partners selected at DD, and Early Release Packages were assembled as a project team. The level of asbestos materials varied by building to be demolished. A separate abatement schedule was produced as the surveys were completed, allowing the demo to flow systematically with the flow of future construction.
