Grandfather Mountain Country Club

Grandfather Golf & Country Club

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains the Grandfather Golf & Country Club features a lodge, golf amenities, dining room, and club house. Heavy stone and wood work are carried throughout the construction of the country club. Completed in 2006, the project consisted of an addition to the existing Clubhouse, including a new bar & lounge, as well as renovations to existing kitchen, dining areas, and locker rooms. While the Country Club remained open during the project, work for the Clubhouse and kitchen was completed during the period clubhouse was closed for winter (October 2005 – May 2006). The Clubhouse offers a formal dining room, lounge, reception area, great room, Golf Shop, card room and covered deck. Several intimate seating areas are situated around fireplaces with spectacular views of the lake. The space utilizes wood and stone indigenous to the Western NC area, and is well appointed with English and Scottish antiques throughout.

Jefferson Landing

Jefferson Landing

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Historic New River, the Jefferson Landing Golf Resort and Conference Center offers an award winning golf course, exceptional dining and beautiful accommodations. Lodging options are abundant and varied, including Jeremy’s Lodge rooms, rentable condominiums, two-five bedroom townhomes and luxury homes. Also included on the property are swimming, tennis and fitness centers, as well as several dining options. Currently owned and operated by Vannoy Construction, Jefferson Landing was assembled in 1988 on 700 acres of land in Ashe County, including 1.5 miles of the New River frontage. We undertook the effort to build the beautiful golf destination. In 2006, Vannoy sold Jefferson Landing to a group of private equity investors, but repurchased the facility in 2010, and continues to operate it today.

ASU Dining Hall

ASU Living & Learning Center

Due to the limited amount of allowable staging, proximity to existing buildings and required selective demolition, this project was completed in phases. The first phase included the construction of a new 125,000 sf four-story residence hall along with demolition, initial site work, and reconfiguration of utilities serving neighboring facilities. The second phase consisted of new 35,000 sf two-story classroom building along with landscaping, site accessories, final utility connections and connection between the classroom building and residence hall. Once completed, students could exit their dormitory room, grab a snack at the café style server or meet some friends and study at the shared gathering space between both buildings before heading to class. Construction materials consisted of brick masonry, cast stone and natural stone veneer, aluminum windows and storefronts, standing seam metal roofing, heavy wood timbers, electronic card readers and security measures all with an emphasis on student safety.

Avery County Jail

Avery County Jail

The Avery County Jail project consisted of a three (3) primary story addition, and one small basement area to the existing two-story jail facility. The new addition adds elevator access to the new and existing areas. The new space houses a 60-bed inmate containment space, isolation cells, two (2) padded cells, and new dayroom pods with hollow metal inmate cells. The new facility has a full security electronic control system integrated into pneumatic locks. The new area also is home to the central communication and inmate monitoring area. Upon completion and licensure of the new addition, the existing 8,000 booking, intake, holding, and staff area is fully renovated. The renovations to this area include new security electronics, pneumatics, and cell areas integrated back into the new addition.
